Our associates make the world more productive by improving the efficiency and reliability of the machinery that keeps industry in motion.The Product Development Engineer will utilize strong technical and analytical skills to design, develop, and launch new industrial gearbox products and components.ResponsibilitiesApplies analytical skills, including handbook calculations and finite element analysis (FEA), to design commercial power transmission products, support product application engineering issues, implement engineering changes, and participate in value engineering activitiesConducts product ratings calculations including thermal capacity and stress limit load capacity for assemblies and components using approved internal or industry standard tools and methodsDevelops product rating and selection programmed software solutions Creates, collects, and synthesizes design alternatives to produce innovative solutions that satisfy requirements of product specificationsSolicits input from production, manufacturing engineering, and quality assurance throughout the design process to improve products and reduce costsWorks with suppliers to develop cost-effective products based on both new part designs and application of commercial power transmission componentsEmploys 3D CAD software to develop creative and accurate solutions for part and assembly designsApplies project management tools (timelines, action plans, design reviews, gate checklists) to lead cross functional teamsAssists with product testing and leads efforts to solve design and manufacturing problemsDocuments intellectual property, produces catalog data, and creates technical support documentsRequirementsMinimum 1-year related experienceBachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related programExperience designing components and assemblies in 3D CAD (Solid Edge or similar)Experience in engineering analysis including use of FEA tools and interpreting data/resultsBackground and interest in computer programming for developing applications and web app tools (C#; .NET; Next.js)Preferred ExperienceGood inter-department project management skillsBackground in heat transferNoise and vibration/system dynamics analysis experienceHands-on experience in working with mechanical systemsHands-on experience in working with lab instrumentationThis position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).
