Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead all accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal control functions for a growing pharmaceutical distribution company specializing in generic pharmaceuticals. The Controller will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting operational growth, maintaining regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to executive leadership.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and partners closely with operations, supply chain, sales, regulatory affairs, and executive management to drive financial performance and scalability.

* Financial Reporting & Close
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on a timely basis
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and audit-ready
Maintain the general ledger and oversee all entries for accuracy and completeness
* Cash, AR/AP & Working Capital Monitor cash flow, bank accounts, and overall working capital position
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections activity
Track and reconcile chargebacks, credits, rebates, and distribution fees; ensure timely manufacturer chargeback submission and follow-up
* Control Budgets & Expenses Monitor expenses and analyze budget vs. actual variances with clear explanations
Develop financial reports, dashboards, and management-level insights to support decision-making
Assist leadership with financial analysis, forecasting, and operational planning
Monitor and control expenses to ensure spending stays within approved budgets and flagged for leadership when thresholds are exceeded to ensure profitability goals are met.
Process payroll accurately and on time, including commissions and variable pay calculations.
* Compliance, Controls & Audit Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Coordinate audits, tax filings, and all external financial reporting requirements
Identify financial risks, discrepancies, and opportunities to strengthen processes and controls
Manage all insurance and liability policy renewals, ensuring adequate coverage is maintained and deadlines are never missed.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA designation strongly preferred.
8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
Preferred
Experience with generic pharmaceutical distribution.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical pricing structures, chargebacks, rebates, returns, and inventory management.
Experience supporting DEA, FDA, state board of pharmacy, or wholesale distribution compliance environments.
Prior experience in private equity-backed or high-growth organizations.
Experience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar systems.
