We are building the next generation of cloud-connected safety and security solutions and are seeking a hands-on technical leader to help shape what comes next.Position SummaryThe Senior Cloud Software Engineer is responsible for architecture, design, development, and validation of cloud platforms supporting Street Smart’s traffic management and work zone safety solutions. This role will contribute to the technical roadmap, leverage AI-assisted development tools, and ensure system performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate is a strong builder who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.This is a hybrid role based in Columbus, Minnesota with an expectation of 2 to 3 days per week in the office.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCloud Architecture and DevelopmentDesign, build, and maintain cloud data services and APIs supporting the Vision platformDevelop serverless and microservices architectures for device provisioning, authentication, and secure communicationImplement real-time data ingestion pipelines for edge device telemetryBuild real-time visualization and device control capabilitiesProcess and store telemetry data from connected devicesAI Accelerated EngineeringLeverage AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, and ChatGPT to accelerate development and testingImplement and execute best practices as an Orchestrator of agentic based AI code generation, test and CI/CD workflowDrive automation in testing, validation, and security practicesQuality, Performance, and ReliabilityOwn system performance, scalability, and reliabilityDefine and implement unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategiesIdentify software risks and proactively address performance bottlenecksSupport CI/CD pipelines aligned with Agile practicesMaintain technical documentation and API specifications such as Swagger or OpenAPITechnical Leadership and CollaborationPartner with hardware engineers, data scientists, DevOps, and Control Center teamsParticipate in Agile and Scrum ceremoniesAct as a technical expert in customer discussions, proof of concepts, and solution workshopsSupport troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiativesOccasionally interact with customers by phone or virtual meetingsCompetenciesStrong background in software development and architectureProficiency across multiple programming languages and modern cloud technologiesExperience with creating and implementing AI agent-skill processes and AI coding workflowsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and collaboration skillsDemonstrated ability to deliver complex software projectsSelf-starter with strong ownership mindset and ability to manage multiple prioritiesMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fieldFive or more years of experience in cloud software developmentStrong proficiency in one or more of the following: C or C++, Java, JavaScript or TypeScript, PythonExperience developing and deploying cloud native applications on AWSHands-on experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and API GatewayExperience with real-time data processing or distributed systemsAgile development experience using tools such as Jira and ConfluenceStrong debugging and optimization skillsAbility to work effectively in collaborative, cross-functional teamsPreferred QualificationsAWS Solutions Architect or similar cloud certificationExperience with AWS IoT Core, Greengrass, DynamoDB, and S3Knowledge of MQTT, CoAP, and REST protocolsExperience securing device to cloud communications using TLS and certificatesExperience with role-based access control and identity managementFamiliarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or GDPRExperience with OTA updates, secure boot, or firmware signingProject management or Scrum certificationsWork Environment And Physical RequirementsThis position is primarily office based and involves regular computer work and collaboration. The role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally move equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
