Harris-Stowe's diverse faculty and staff provide a wide range of academic programs to one of the most culturally diverse student bodies in the St. Louis region.Job SummaryThe Department of Public Safety is in search of full-time 1st shift Campus Public Safety Officers from 6:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.DutiesEnforce campus regulations, and federal, state, and city statutesProtect the University's property and personsControlling campus trafficProvide security escort serviceConduct emergency evacuation of the campus, if necessaryQualificationsRead, understand, and speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phonesMust be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; may require computer skillsExperience with traffic control preferredAbility to work flexible hoursFollow detailed oral and written instructionsExcellent human relations skillsAbility to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standards;Neat and professional appearanceProvide quality customer serviceHandle both common and crises at the client site, calmly and efficientlyMay be required to use protective devices such as pepper spray or batonCandidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license, and currently must be licensed to carry a firearm through the Watchman's Division, St. Louis County Private Security Section.
