Psychiatrist (Board Certified / Board Eligible)Location: Houston, TX (Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center & CBOCs)We are seeking qualified Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists to provide on-site psychiatric services to Veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) and affiliated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the Houston, TX region.The selected providers will deliver high-quality psychiatric care consistent with national standards in a collaborative, multidisciplinary VA healthcare environment. Services will support both inpatient and outpatient mental health needs across multiple clinic locations.Key responsibilities include providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for Veterans; delivering both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care; developing and managing individualized treatment plans; conducting follow-ups, medication management, and consults; participating in multidisciplinary care teams and peer reviews; completing accurate and timely documentation in VA electronic health records; supporting quality improvement initiatives and attending required meetings; and ensuring compliance with VA policies, HIPAA, and clinical standards.Work schedule is Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM CST with no weekends or federal holidays required. Approximately 66.5 patient care hours per day.Work locations include the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (Houston, TX) and coverage across 9 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the region (e.g., Katy, Conroe, Galveston, Tomball, etc.).Qualifications include an MD or DO degree from an accredited institution, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN), active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, current BLS and ACLS certifications, DEA registration (as applicable), strong clinical competency in psychiatric care, and the ability to work collaboratively within a VA healthcare setting.Additional requirements include meeting VA credentialing and privileging requirements, completion of required VA training (privacy, safety, EHR, etc.), maintaining all certifications, licensure, and continuing education, and the ability to pass background screening and compliance checks.Workload & coverage includes approximately 10,400 hours per year across providers, coverage supports 5 full-time equivalent psychiatrists, and the contractor must ensure continuous staffing and coverage.
