Advanced Practice Provider
Reports to: Chief Medical Officer, or Director of Prevention Services
Position Overview:
The outpatient primary care advanced practice provider will guide all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, medications, treatments, and consultations. The Advanced Practice Provider is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who actively renders direct patient care and possesses delegated prescriptive authority, is credentialed and privileged, and whose service is billed as an independent billing provider, as recognized by Medicare and Medicaid within the healthcare systems, and in accordance with the appropriate board. The Advanced Practice Provider provides medical care based upon the scope of practice as delineated by the supervising physician.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilitate entry of the patient into the health care system by assessing the primary health care needs, including eliciting comprehensive health histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and/or performing pertinent diagnostic tests, analyzing collected data to determine client health status, and formulating a problem list (diagnosis)
Provide continuous and culturally competent primary health care to clients
Adhere to collaborative practice principles of respect and joint decision-making when:
Consulting with health team members about managing the client's treatment plan
Following clinical practice standards (protocols) related to each health care provider’s role and responsibilities
Practice within the legal and ethical guidelines established by the Medical Practice Act and the Specialty Standards of Practice
Document comprehensive, accurate, and continual data on clients' records and program reports according to the organization's standards
Adhere to professional standards as outlined by governmental bodies
Adhere to all protocols for Ryan White patients
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program
Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure or Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Current and unincumbered License to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Texas
Experience with HRT, PrEP, and Gender-Affirming Care (GAC)
Experience working in a community-based medical setting strongly preferred
Knowledge and experience with clients who are HIV+ and with diverse communities preferred
Experience in infectious diseases preferred
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times
Current DEA certification and Liability Insurance
