Position Summary We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the transportation and distribution of goods, ensuring that our products are delivered on time, within budget, and according to customer specifications. You will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of goods through our supply chain, working closely with warehouse staff, drivers, suppliers, and customers. Your ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently, combined with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, will be key to your success in this role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, warehousing, and transportation management, with a particular focus on food safety, quality, and compliance. General Duties/Responsibilities Ensure all logistics activities comply with safety regulations and conduct regular risk assessments to mitigate hazards. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practices for logistics, including vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to enhance operational performance. Plan, manage, and evaluate logistics operations by liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies, and customers. Create and implement logistics principles, policies, and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance. Deliver solutions to logistics challenges while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary constraints. Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs, and negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers. Recommend optimal transport modes, routes, or frequencies and select carriers/suppliers, monitoring their performance against established criteria. Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit and delivery. Resolve issues related to transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, and customer concerns. Forward filed claims to Accounts Payable for follow-up. Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and opportunities for cost optimization. Identify savings by eliminating waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process. Analyze and interpret trends, review data, and provide meaningful logistics information to the organization to aid in customer service and cost improvements. Ensure that metrics, reports, and process documentation are accurate and available. Conduct or review environmental audits for logistics activities to ensure processes are environmentally friendly. Review opportunities to further enhance environmental sustainability. Comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies. Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) policies when in the production facility and encourage your team to do the same. Understand and comply with SQF (Safe Quality Food) policies, particularly regarding pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation. Demonstrate awareness of Management's Commitment to SQF, and work toward meeting the company's goals for food safety and quality. Report any food quality or safety issues to the Quality Assurance Manager, allowing for appropriate corrective and preventative action (CAPA) to be taken, contributing to continuous improvement. Required Skills/Abilities Proven experience in logistics, warehouse operations, and inventory management. Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and related software, such as NS, RF Smart WMS, and Google Sheets. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. Flexibility in work hours to meet operational demands. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related field preferred. At least 5 years of experience in logistics preferred. Work Environment/Physical Requirements Frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time. Occasionally must be able to lift up to 15 pounds and push/pull/move up to 50 pounds. Travel requirement of up to 20%. Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch.
