We are seeking a motivated, creative, and committed Attorney to help Nikola transform and disrupt the transportation industry through creating a zero-emissions future at our company headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Responsibilities: Interpret, draft, and negotiate various and numerous commercial agreements (including procurement, production, logistics, real estate, SAAS, licensing and similar technology-related agreements) Develop strategic and innovative contractual relationships with counterparties Provide legal services and legal advice in compliance with applicable federal and state laws. In addition, you will: Work independently yet collaboratively with various stakeholders throughout the organization including Head of Legal, Motor & Energy and the Chief Legal Officer Demonstrate leadership through teamwork in order to gain respect and credibility Work closely with other departments within the company on various issues Keep abreast of current regulatory developments and measures to ensure compliance. Qualifications: JD from an ABA-accredited law school Bar admittance in at least one (1) U.S. state or the District of Colombia and willingness to arrange admittance in Arizona within one (1) year of employment Two (2) or more years of experience as a practicing attorney with experience handling complex commercial contractual drafting and negotiations, e.g. supply agreements, real estate transaction agreements, engineering agreements, master service agreements, development agreements, licensing agreements Willingness to learn about emerging industries and corresponding legal and regulatory requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in regard to describing legal issues for business client and management Ability to work well in time-sensitive situations and fast-paced environments Experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm specializing in automotive manufacturing and/or renewable energy is a plus Preferred knowledge of and experience with: U.S. Federal government automotive laws and regulations or U.S. Federal government funding opportunities, renewable energy contracts, and commercial real estate. Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.
