Diesel Mechanic

DescriptionTechnician for 2nd Shift (1pm - 9pm Monday - Friday)Quarterly Performance Bonus!Starting Pay Range: $22 to $35 based on experience(does not include increase rates for approved certifications)Position Summary:Maintains/repairs all types of company owned vehicles, including Gasoline, Diesel, Electric and Propane powered. Trouble shoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions, and efficiently repairs the same.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Trouble shoots and repairs mechanical malfunctionsDiagnoses mechanical malfunctions, determines parts needed and orders through the parts roomsRepairs engines, drive trains, front and rear ends, all air, electrical and hydraulic systems on Company owned equipmentRepairs, on a minor and/or emergency basis, parts of bodies, i.e., doors, landing gear, etcRepairs all Company fork liftsMakes road calls on disabled Company vehicles and performs minor repairs on the roadPerforms preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis as determined by Fleet SupervisorInspects vehicle (during P.M. inspection) to ensure all D.O.T. requirements are metRepairs all items not meeting D.O.T. requirements; informs supervisor if not immediately repairablePerforms other tasks/projects as instructed by Fleet Supervisor including but not limited to delivering trucks to and from other branch locations and picking up partsAdheres to strict safe working practices, Company policies, rules, regulations, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports to supervisor if not immediately correctableOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED equivalentAutomotive/Mechanical Trade or Vocational certification preferred2+ years of Diesel/Automotive Technician experienceMilitary experience equivalency may substitute for some requirementsIn person travel within the service territories of Silver Eagle requiredDemonstrated mechanical and technical aptitudeMust supply automotive hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools)3+ ASE certificationsDemonstrated mechanical and technical aptitudeMust be able to safely operate a pallet jack, electric fork-lift/pallet-jack repair experience preferredAble to obtain and maintain Class C or A-CDL, and medical cardMust have a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record within MVR policy guidelinesMust have the ability to operate both manual and standard transmissionsPhysical Requirement:Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus)Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, truck gear shiftAbility to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholdsMust regularly lift and move up to 100lbsPushing/pulling: up to 100lbs force for turning wrenches, pulling out partsAbility to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to inspect and or wash vehiclesAbility to communicate verbally and in writingAbility to hear voice commands in areas with a high level of background noiseAbility to demonstrate or learn to safely handle large trucks in a critically safe and precise manner within very constrained and compact areasThe Perks:Competitive compensation with access to on-demand payA full range of benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance401(k) with a company matchPaid time off, paid holidays, and paid parental leaveAnnual tool reimbursement programTuition reimbursement programCareer development trainingOn-site gym facilitiesFree beer and beverage gifts throughout the yearPre-Employment Screening:* Drug test and background screen requiredAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
