Quality Engineer
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
To develop, install and maintain cost-effective methods of Quality control, monitoring, and improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy
Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions
Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees
Develop operator inspection sheets and standards for manufacturing
Performance and documentation of Gage R&R and Process capability studies
Assist in the assessment and qualification of new vendors
Analyze and communicate shop floor quality metrics and data
Interface with Customers, Vendors, Tech, Sales, Purchasing and Engineering
Assist with New Product Introductions and Continuous Process Improvement activities
Champion Statistical Process Control methods and implementation into manufacturing cells
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experienced working in the production field
Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
Well organized and self-directed
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computer applications
Previous Quality control experience with knowledge of Statistical Techniques, APQP and PPAP
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, understanding of Geometric and Dimensional Tolerancing
Ability to travel occasionally
Internal combustion engine, machining and metal fabrication experience helpful
4 year college degree in industrial, mechanical or manufacturing engineering or related experience
Minimum of 3 years experience preferred in related field
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in both an office and production environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, reach above shoulders, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
Must comply with safety equipment standards: safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toe shoes when present on the production floor.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected
