About The TeamOur K-12 online public school curriculum offers rich and engaging content carefully designed to meet the standards required by the state of Indiana. At Virtual Preparatory Academy of Indiana, students are engaged in academics, participating in various activities and assessments appropriate to the courses being studied, including labs, journals, written assignments, discussions, group and individual projects, formative assessments, objective tests, and written exams.Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.ELIGIBILITY: This position is open to residents of IndianaAbout The OpportunityAttend relevant trainings offered by county agencies and the department of education to stay current on regulations and best practicesDevelop and facilitate professional development and training on varied Special Education topicsCoordinate with enrollment team to understand volume and needs of newly enrolling Special Education students, gather existing documentation, and assign students to IS caseloadsReview all Special Education documents, including IEPs, for compliance and quality and provide feedback and coaching to Intervention Specialists prior to IEP meetingAct as district representative at IEP meetingsAssist Intervention Specialists with complex parent communications as neededMonitor Intervention Specialist compliance with timelines and data collectionObserve Intervention Specialists during instructional time with students and provide feedbackPartners with Principal to ensure communication and consistency in general education and special education programmingCollaborate with EMIS Coordinator/State Reporting Manager to gather/enter all needed data into state and federal systemsParticipates in trainings and meetings held by the ACCEL Special Education teamPerform all other job duties as assignedAbout YouBachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Master’s Degree PreferredMinimum 3 years of experience providing special education services in an online modelCurrent Indiana Special Education Teacher or Administrator CertificationIndiana residency preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite ProductsAbility to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentialityDemonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethicAbility to manage difficult or emotional client situationsAbility to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicatedDemonstrates a mature attitude and insight into matters affecting department, self and / or company welfareDemonstrated leadership and management abilityExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistentlyAbility to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team membersAbility to work independently and contribute to a teamUnderstanding and ability to manage confidential informationAbility to pass federal and state criminal background checksAbout Us“We believe that every child should be able to be anything they want in life, regardless of their birthplace and circumstances.” – Ron Packard, CEO & FounderACCEL Schools is a network of 80+ high-performing, public charter schools serving PK-12 students. The annual starting salary for this position is between $60,000.00- $70,000.00 annually.
