Mechanical Engineer

Summary: Researches, develops, designs and tests mechanical components, equipment and systems, applying principles and techniques of mechanical engineering.Key Accountabilities Confer with engineers, customers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products Design, implement, maintain and improves mechanical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems Operate computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and codes Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications Inspects completed installations and observes operations to ensure conformance to design and equpment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of mechanical theory to engineering projects Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment Supervise and train project team members as necessary Investigate and test vendor and competitor products Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of mechanical/electronic equipment to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and requirements Investigate mechanical complaints and determines nature and extent of problem and recommend measures to resolve the issue Assists in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs Develops budgets, estimating labor, material and construction costs Compiles data and writes reports reqarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects Collects data relating to power system connections to determine operating efficiency of mechanical systems Conducts surveys and studies graphs and diagrams and other data to identify and correct power system problems Performs other duties as assignedEducation And Experience Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology Knowledge of applying mechanical engineering principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various industrial applicationsSkills, Abilites, And Competencies Extensive mental/visual effort and attention to detail Excellent verbal/written communication skills Ability to analytically and independently solve problems Ability to work under pressure in adverse conditions and maintain a high level of professionalism Knowledge of computers and engineering and design software Excellent organizational skills
