The City of Bryan is currently accepting applications for Lifeguard. This position monitors activities at a City of Bryan swimming pool to prevent accidents and quickly respond to aquatic and pool facility emergencies. *Work Schedule:* Approximately 15-20/week Flexible days & times available Monday-Friday between 5am-8pm Sat & Sun hours vary Off-Season Lifeguard – Approximately September 2026 – April 2027 Opportunity for continued employment though Summer 2027 season *Hiring Pay Rate:* $12.00/hour *Responsibilities:* * Monitors pool areas as assigned. * Maintains continuous surveillance of patrons in and around the swimming pool. * Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas. * Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards. * Acts immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency. * Performs appropriate water rescues when necessary; performs first aid or CPR when needed. * Spots hazards or potential hazards and takes measures to prevent accidents. * Communicates with other lifeguards and facility staff about the need for additional assistance or equipment in an emergency. * Delivers excellent customer service to all patrons. * Observes, enforces, and educates patrons about the rules and regulations of the facility. * Completes all required inspections and reports and submits them to the proper person or office. * Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary facility. * Maintains appropriate fitness level to perform all essential functions of the position. * Continually practices safe work habits and alerts management about safety and other workplace concerns. * Reports for duty at the times specified and ensures a high standard of personal presentation and appearance is maintained per policy. * Attends mandatory training, orientations, and other staff meetings as scheduled. * Adheres to the policies, rules, regulations, and procedures of the City of Bryan and the Parks and Recreation Department. * Performs other duties as required. *Minimum Qualifications:* * Must be at least 16 years of age. * Must possess strong swimming skills and American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification *or* the ability to obtain the certification within the time frame set by the department. * Previous Lifeguard or aquatic experience is a plus, but not required.
