Under limited supervision, locates underground electric, fiber and water/wastewater utilities to facilitate underground construction by the organization and internal and external contractors. Job requires general knowledge of the Florida Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act, the Sunshine State One Call of Florida (SSOCOF) system and the methods, techniques and procedures used to locate underground utilities sufficient to perform a range of routine tasks. Procedures are established and a number of specific guidelines are available requiring some judgment in locating and selecting the most appropriate methods, techniques and procedures to apply to specific cases. Solves problems by selecting among a range of well defined alternatives. Work is reviewed upon completion for technical accuracy, following instructions and established procedures and compliance with SSOCOF requirements. Regular contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify or provide information. Must be able to read and interpret maps and as-built drawings. Must be able to utilize specific computer software to receive locate requests from SSOCOF and record work completion. Must be able to prioritize tasks and requests for service to meet statutory deadlines. Reviews telephone and SSOCOF locate requests to determine if construction site is within the organizations service area. Researches appropriate maps, as-builts and field note location for use by company inspectors for sites requiring field locate/marking. Performs utility locates to ensure adequate customer service in accordance with SSOCOF system and statutory requirements. Uses electronic locater devices. Writes field notes and/or surveys existing underground facilities to develop accurate as-built drawings. Updates and maintains organizational records of underground facilities. Performs other job-related work as assigned. Videotapes and/or takes photographs of completed work. Participates in damage investigation process following damages to utility. Creation of red-line drawings and related work in the GIS Software. OPEN REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years utility locating or operating ground penetrating radar experience. LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: A valid driver's license is required prior to employment and must be maintained during employment in this classification. This position requires that employees be in compliance with JEA procedure ES A0200 A0101 RS 628 Screening Personnel Risk Assessments (pre-hire for FACTA designations; pre-hire and recurring for CIP designations).
