Role Overview
We are looking for an Electrical Hardware Engineer to become a key member of our expanding technical staff. This position is perfect for professionals with a background in industrial machinery electrical design who thrive on managing the full project lifecycle from inception to final release. Your primary focus will be on electrical hardware architecture rather than programming PLCs. You will collaborate with mechanical, controls, and assembly teams to ensure that all designs are practical, easy to build, and align with client specifications. This includes generating comprehensive electrical schematics, panel layouts, pneumatic documentation, and managing bills of material.
Key Duties
Draft electrical schematics for specialized industrial automation systems.
Utilize ECAD tools like AutoCAD Electrical to produce wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and related technical documentation.
Manage and update component lists and detailed Bills of Material (BOMs).
Choose appropriate electrical hardware, such as VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, power supplies, and safety components, to help optimize system performance.
Draft pneumatic system diagrams and assist in the selection of related parts.
Partner with the mechanical engineering department to ensure that all system components integrate smoothly.
Provide technical guidance to the assembly and manufacturing teams to help streamline the machine building process.
Perform testing, troubleshooting, and design reviews to verify the integrity and functionality of electrical systems.
Assist with system validation, machine startup, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure project success.
Help maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all designs adhere to relevant machine safety and electrical codes.
Required Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a similar discipline.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in electrical system design for OEM manufacturing, automation, or industrial machinery.
Proven ability to use ECAD platforms such as SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical for schematics and panel design.
Demonstrated proficiency in selecting electrical components and managing Bills of Material.
Working knowledge of industrial automation hardware.
