Field Service Engineer – Hardware Emulation Platforms📍 Location: San Jose, CA 🧠Reports to: Field Service Manager, San JoseAbout the RoleCadence is seeking a Field Service Engineer (FSE) to support our industry-leading hardware emulation platforms. In this customer-facing role, you’ll provide hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support at customer sites across the U.S. and internationally.You will primarily support the Atlanta data center, while also covering additional locations throughout the Eastern United States. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, working with cutting-edge systems, and building trusted customer relationships.What You’ll DoAct as the primary hardware support contact for assigned customer sitesInstall, configure, and reconfigure new and existing emulation systemsTroubleshoot and repair hardware, firmware, Linux/Unix, and networking issuesProactively identify system risks and implement corrective actionsCoordinate replacement parts and schedule maintenance with customersAccurately document service activities, issues, and resolutionsBuild strong, long-term customer relationships through proactive supportManage inventory and track hardware assetsCollaborate with Field Service and cross-functional Cadence teams to improve processes and service qualityWhat You’ll BringBS degree a minimum of 4 years of experience OR MS degree + 2 years of experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of Linux/Unix systemsProven hardware and software troubleshooting experienceStrong documentation and organizational skillsAbility to lift up to 40 lbsValid U.S. driver’s license and passportWillingness to travel domestically and internationally, including short-notice service eventsNice to HaveBoard- or system-level debug and repair experienceHands-on experience with liquid-cooled systemsLinux shell proficiency (grep, sed, awk, find, etc.)Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Bash, sh, tcsh, csh)Networking experience with routers, switches, and firewallsStrong network troubleshooting skillsTraining: Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure success in the role.
