Senior Estimator
Purpose: The Senior Estimator is responsible for providing a full range of estimating duties, including project estimating analysis, proposal generation, report preparation, and data gathering.Essential Duties Include The FollowingMust comply with all company safety policies at all timesReview proposal specifications, drawings and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimateReviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materialsReviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc into unit and man hour figuresHelps to determine schedule, project duration, and sequence of workAccountable for quality of estimatesInvestigates value engineering optionsMeets with Clients and helps procure work through relationshipsAttends Precon meetingsUpdates information for Precon meetingsPrepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work; prices work itemsReviews terms and conditions of subcontractor and vendor quotes; serves as a liaison with subcontractors and vendors during the bidding processMaintains files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliersRequest the assistance of others in the estimating department, as required, to ensure timely completion of estimatesCoordinates and manages team estimatesCompletes larger scale, more complex bids in all business segmentsWrites and makes necessary corrections to the scope letter for all projects assignedPrepares and performs job turnovers to the operations departmentSets up budgetsKeeps Trend logs for each projectPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications/Requirements5 years prior estimating experience in the Construction industry, requiredExtensive knowledge of estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems, and accounts requiredAdvanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Estimating Software, requiredExcellent communication skills, including both verbal and writtenAbility to estimate all types of projects/contractsPhysical RequirementsSedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.Performance of the job may require sitting, handling items and working with fingers to type, complete paperwork, and handle other administrative functions. May be asked to walk, stand, talk and hear others in conversation by phone or in person.Must be able to drive to customer job sites as requiredWork EnvironmentWell-lit, heated, and/or air-conditioned modern office setting with adequate ventilation.
