FN Childcare

Under the direction and supervision of the Child Care Coordinator, the Child Care Staff member is responsible for caring for children and leading the activities in the KidNation child care area, following the philosophy and policies of the Gurnee Park District. Staff are expected to work with children ages 3 months to 12 years providing a safe and enjoyable experience to all participants.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure all participants are signed in and have an information form on fileOrganize and conduct interactive activitiesEncourage individuals to participate in play activities and to reach their needs through these activitiesWork with other staff members cooperatively and as a team.Act as a role model for young childrenProvide customer service and friendliness to all participants and parentsReport any problems to the SupervisorCommunicate information, as needed, to staff and patronsBe knowledgeable of all Gurnee Park District policies and eventsMaintain an approachable, friendly appearance with members and guestsAttend all staff meetings and trainingsArrive on time and dressed appropriately for workFollow employee manual and proceduresADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform all other duties as assignedMaintain a positive attitude toward all co-workers and participantsDress appropriately in uniformMaintain a positive attitude at all timesAct professionally at all timesQualificationsQUALIFICATIONSExperience: Prefer a high school graduate, may be enrolled in a college/university. High School student standing having experience with children will be consideredEducation: Minimum of 16 years of ageSkills: Must possess the ability to learn new skills and lead activities in a recreational setting.Certifications: CPR, First Aid and AED certification is required or ability to obtain within four weeksCompetencies: Ability to participate in group work as applicable to the FitNation child care area. Knowledge of childrens needs and child development for ages 3 months - 12 years is required; Must possess the ability to learn new skills and lead activities in a recreational settingPHYSICAL DEMANDS100% of working hours will be spent in the FitNation Child Care areaPerform hand/arm movements as when cleaning the FitNation Child Care areaAbility to lift and move equipment and supplies up to 50 lbsRead handwritten information and write legiblyDuties may include lifting, twisting, bending and squatting as related to the care of childrenStand for long periods of time while leading programsWe believe in taking care of our team and supporting our members both professionally and personally.
