The position relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform analyses per Blended Products methodology or Standard Operating Procedures on all samples submitted to lab, including but not limited to:Appearance (Clarity) and odorColor evaluationRefractive IndexDensityDemulsibilitySpatter / Crackle testFoam Sequences I, II, & IIIViscosity (Manual or Automatic by Cannon SimpleVis or CAV)Cold Crank ViscosityElemental Analysis by iCAP ICP or XRFTAN and TBN by AutotitratorFTIRParticle CountBrookfield ViscosityFlash PointPour Point(Calumet Packaging Only) -High Temp High Shear(Royal Purple Only)Log samples into LIMSReport data accurately and in a timely fashionApprove Production, Bulk, and Blend Samples when they are within QC SpecificationsOperate and maintain instruments and equipment per written proceduresSample raw material drums and totesPull and test flush tote samplesMaintain clean laboratory glassware and surroundingsFile and organize retain samplesRun and Troubleshoot issues with instrument check standardsHelp perform general instrument maintenance / repairOther duties as assignedREQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:College degree or minimum 6 months industrial lab experienceMust read, write, and speak EnglishComfortable with metric system, calculations, and unit conversionsFlexible and adaptable in ever-changing work environmentCOMPETENCIES:Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.Must be able to identify problems and propose solutions.Demonstration of Calumet Values – Safety, Environment & Social Responsibility, Teamwork, Ownership, Passion for Customers and Excellence Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
