Each of these practices aligns to one of the core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Junior/Mid Data Engineer, you will join Turnberry's Data Strategy and Intelligence practice and service. This service provides insights into company data, advanced analytics solutions, robust data governance, and tailored solutions for specific data challenges.ResponsibilitiesAssemble large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirementsPerform complex data analysis and investigation for customer requests to explain results and to make appropriate recommendationsBuild processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload managementAnalyze business objectives and develop data solutions to meet customer needsImprove and customize current data solutions to meet business functional and non-functional requirementsResearch new and existing data sources in order to contribute to new development, improve data management processes, and make recommendations for data quality initiativesPerform periodic data quality reviews for internal and external dataEnsure timely resolution of queries and data issuesLook for new ways to find and collect data by researching potential new sources of informationWork with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systemsQualifications3–5+ years of experience in data engineeringExperience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data platformsStrong problem-solving and data troubleshooting skillsDetail-oriented with focus on data accuracy and traceabilityAbility to work across data, BI, and governance teamsStrong knowledge of SQL requiredAbility to identify sets and subsets of information across multiple joins or unions of tables is preferred in addition to writing and troubleshooting SQL queries for data miningStrong understanding of data modeling conceptsProblem solver with the initiative to think critically to identify improvement opportunities (error detection, error correction, root cause analysis)Understand ETL that will aid in verification and testing of dataA successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large disconnected datasetsDemonstrated ability to effectively participate in multiple, concurrent projectsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited University or CollegeORAssociate’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited University or College with two (2) years of experienceTechnical SkillsStrong proficiency in:SQLPythonExperience with:ETL/ELT developmentData ingestion and transformation frameworksUnderstanding of:Delta Lake/modern data storage formatsMedallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)Data and Platform ExpertiseStrong understanding of:Data transformations (cleaning, shaping, aggregating, and preparing data for downstream use)Data lineage (ability to track where data comes from, how it is transformed, and where it is consumed)Data quality and governance conceptsExperience supporting reporting and analytics (Power BI preferred)Familiarity with data security and access controls (RBAC)Preferred QualificationsMicrosoft Fabric experienceData catalog/lineage tools (Purview or similar)CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Git)Basic streaming or real-time ingestion exposureThe salary range for this role is $85,000 to $120,000 or the hourly equivalent.
