Lead Installation Technician (Full-Time)Reports to: Installation Team Manager / Operations ManagerWorks Closely With: Project Managers, Chief Engineer, Field Engineers, Service Technicians, Other Installation TechniciansLocation: Montgomery, AL, and Richmond, VA (Travel to project sites required)About the RoleThe Lead Installation Technician is responsible for leading small installation teams and ensuring that audiovisual systems are installed according to Code3AV’s quality standards, project documentation, and client expectations.This role combines technical installation expertise with leadership in the field. Continuous learning and professional certification are encouraged.Key ResponsibilitiesField LeadershipLead installation teams of up to 3 technicians.Serve as the field leader for assigned projects.Act as co-foreman for larger or out-of-town installations.Provide guidance, training, and support to junior technicians.Installation ExecutionInstall audiovisual systems according to project scope, drawings, and bill of materials.Fabricate racks and assemble equipment racks according to engineering documentation.Install and mount speakers, projectors, displays, video walls, screens, and other AV equipment.Pull, terminate, and test cabling including AV, network, and fiber.Build custom cabling required for installations.Ensure systems are installed in a manner that supports efficient commissioning and programming.Project PreparationPrepare equipment for installation by labeling, staging, and organizing gear.Assist with shop preparation including mockups and system buildouts.Package equipment into room kits and maintain tracking documentation for shipping and delivery.Project CoordinationWork closely with Project Managers to track installation progress and labor usage.Coordinate daily work with contractors, electricians, and other trades.Communicate field conditions and potential scope issues to project managers.Quality & DocumentationEnsure installations meet Code3AV quality standards.Track labor hours and assist with managing installation labor budgets.Maintain and update system documentation during installation.Document field changes and support change order processes when required.Required Skills & ExperienceMinimum 3 years of commercial audiovisual integration experience.Experience leading installation teams of 2–4 technicians.Strong understanding of commercial construction methods.Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, blueprints, and manuals.Experience with:Rack fabricationCable pulling and terminationEquipment mountingSystem commissioningStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.Solid understanding of:AV signal flowNetwork/IP-based systemsFamiliarity with manufacturers such as:CrestronAMXCiscoQSCExtronBiampStrong verbal and written communication skills.CTS certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).Physical & Travel RequirementsAbility to climb ladders and lift 50 lbs or more.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Ability to pass background checks required for certain job sites.Travel to project locations will be required for extended periods of time.Performance ExpectationsInstall systems according to engineering documentation and quality standards.Maintain accurate daily time reporting.Complete installations within planned labor budgets.Demonstrate leadership and professionalism on job sites.Maintain industry certifications and continue technical learning.Success in This Role Looks LikeProjects are installed on schedule and within labor budgets.Install teams work efficiently with clear direction and leadership.Systems are installed correctly and require minimal rework during commissioning.Project managers and engineers trust the quality of field installations.Junior technicians grow in skill and confidence under your mentorship.BenefitsBenefits begin after 90 days of employment.Employer-shared Health, Dental, and Vision insurance401(k) with company matchingPaid holidays and paid leaveStrong work-life balanceA collaborative team culture focused on learning and growthEqual Opportunity EmployerCode3AV is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)License/Certification:Driver's License (Required)Location:Richmond, VA (Required)Willingness to travel:75% (Preferred)Work Location: On the road
