POSITION DESCRIPTION:Position Title: Fleet ManagerDepartment: Trucking/FleetsLocation: Eagan, MNLast Updated: January 2026SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Fleet Manager role will be responsible for managing a fleet of drivers to ensure a flawless execution of services for customers. This includes coordinating and scheduling the pick-up and delivery of loads in a timely and most cost-effective way, as well as ensuring drivers provide excellent customer service. Responsibilities of a Fleet Manager also include holding drivers accountable for operating in a safe manner and complying with company, state and federal policies.In addition, this role is responsible for supporting business improvement by meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives timely and effectivelyPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:Problem Resolution - proactively identify and resolve scheduling issues, delivery delays and equipment breakdowns through communications wit h drivers, customers and operations.Dispatch drivers to ensure efficient asset utilization and route planningMonitoring, correcting, and improving driving behaviors and operationsEvaluate driver performanceProvide route and operations informationMaintain constant communication with driversCommunicate effectivelyCommunicate clearly and respectfullyUnderstand & Communicate expectations of your driver and of yourselfEstablish a friendly environment* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures* Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations and files paperwork in support of this compliance as neededKey Performance Indicators (KPIs):Driver Turnover RateOn-Tim Delivery PercentageRevenue Per TractorAverage Miles Per TractorFuel Efficiency (MPG) and Idle TimeNote: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:Previous trucking industry experience especially managing/dispatching driversProficient with computersKnowledge of DOT safety requirementsAbility to tolerate high stress situations.Strong communication, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.Ability to work in team environment.Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environmentAbility to tolerate high stress situations.Dependable.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to work professionally and effectively with a diverse group of individuals, both internal and external customers.Ability to make sound decisions.
