Afterschool TK/K Program Instructor (Antioch )
Job Description: Benefits:Pay rate: $23.50-$25 an hour, based on regional grant funding and experienceHours negotiated upon hiring: 30 hours per weekUp to 15 paid holidays per yearStepping stone into a career in education, leadership, advocacy, social entrepreneurship, and social justiceEmployee assistance program, dental, vision, wellness program, life insurance, flexible spending account, transit and parking flexible spending accounts for commuting expenses, 403b (Eligibility based on total weekly hours) Qualifications: • Must have an a) Associate Degree or higher, or b) 48 college units, or c) pass the Instructional Aide exam • Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance • Must be able to work every day during after-school hours and commit to an academic school year (hire date through mid-June) required for the position. Some will include summer and intersession employment. • Must have previous experience working with TK/K youth and the ability to independently lead and supervise up to 22 students while playing, doing homework, and implementing enrichment activities. • Must be able to communicate openly, professionally, and maintain confidentiality at all times. • Must have basic technology & computer skills (Word, Email, Workvivo, Workday, Google Drive, etc.) Will be expected to complete all mandated training (Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, SEL PQA, etc.)Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of timeAbility to communicate effectively in English with students and familiesBasic English reading proficiency to support students' academic development, enrichment offerings, and school day alignmentKey ResponsibilitiesFacilitate engaging academic, enrichment, recreation, and social-emotional learning activities for K-12 studentsBuild positive, supportive relationships that foster student belonging, confidence, and engagementSupport student behavior using restorative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practicesProvide homework assistance and adapt activities to meet diverse learning needs and abilitiesCreate a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students of all backgroundsSupervise and actively engage groups of up to 22 youth during indoor and outdoor activitiesCollaborate effectively with program staff, school personnel, and families to support student successMaintain accurate attendance, incident reports, and other required program documentationParticipate fully in staff meetings, professional development, coaching, and trainingsRepresent BACR professionally in communication, appearance, and conduct at all times RequirementsAbility to work consistently during after-school program hours throughout the school yearSuccessful completion of a criminal background check and TB clearanceCompletion of Mandated Reporter and other required trainings upon hireAbility to stand, move, supervise activities, and lift/carry up to 25 lbs as needed What We're Looking For BACR values staff who lead with: Compassion - building authentic relationships and supporting youth with careCuriosity - continuously learning and improving practiceHumility - collaborating respectfully and valuing diverse perspectivesIntegrity - demonstrating accountability and professionalismJoy - bringing energy, positivity, and purpose to the work BACR is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating an inclusive, equitable, and affirming workplace for all staff and students.
