As an Occupational Safety Specialist, you will help develop and administer effective Health and Safety Programs, audit the effectiveness of programs, and recommend corrective actions to reduce risks and protect the health and safety of our employees, customers, and environment. You will play a key role in improving our Health and Safety Programs at our San Diego shipyard site, while reporting to the Site Safety Manager.As An Occupational Safety Specialist, You Will:Administer Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) to ensure timely and effective response to identified discrepancies.Update and maintain accurate safety incident data and actions in OSHENS and CR Desktop.Conduct and coordinate internal audits to assess compliance with ISO 45001.Prepare for third party audits.Analyze safety data to report on key performance indicators, objective status and trends.Assess subcontractor safety programs to verify compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.Review and update HIRADCs annually in conjunction with Safety Manager and craft leadership.Auto req ID471814BRMinimum Education RequiredHigh School/GEDJob_CategoryOperationsAdditional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesRequired Education, Experience, & SkillsTypically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline, and two years’ experience applying safety processes in an industrial environment, or the overall equivalent.Knowledge of Safety and Health regulations and modern safety management principles.Knowledge and ability to apply incident investigation and causal analysis methodology.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, especially during high-stress incidents and emergency situations.Ability to act independently to quickly recognize when issues need to be elevated and additional support is required.Able to support travel of up to 10%. Travel is typically local to the San Diego area.Preferred Education, Experience, & SkillsCertified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)Experience with Process Safety ManagementManagement system experience (OSHA, ISO 45001)Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $67406 - $114590Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
