Project Manager
Job Title: Project Manager – Data Center (Owner’s Representative)Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager with Owner’s Representative expertise to lead the delivery of a new, ground-up data center development project. This individual will act as the owner’s advocate, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience managing mission-critical infrastructure projects, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, and overseeing the full lifecycle from site selection through commissioning and handover.ResponsibilitiesServe as the Owner’s Representative, protecting the owner’s interests throughout all project phases.Lead planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data center construction projects.Establish and manage project scope, schedule, and budget (CapEx).Develop and maintain detailed project plans, risk registers, and reporting structures.Ensure alignment with business objectives, operational requirements, and design intent.Act as primary liaison between owners, developers, general contractors, A/E firms, and key vendors.Facilitate design reviews, progress meetings, and decision-making sessions.Manage third-party consultants, engineers, and commissioning agents.Oversee contractor performance, contract compliance, and change management.Ensure adherence to Tier standards (Uptime Institute), redundancy requirements, and SLA targets.Monitor construction progress, quality control, and adherence to safety standards.Identify and mitigate risks related to schedule, cost, and technical execution.Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical systems (UPS, switchgear, generators), cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, containment), and structured cabling and network infrastructure.Ensure compliance with industry standards such as Uptime Institute Tier levels, ANSI/TIA-942, and local building and environmental codes.Coordinate integrated systems testing and commissioning.Track budgets, forecasts, and cost variances.Review contractor invoices, change orders, and procurement strategies.Provide executive-level reporting on project status, risks, and milestones.Essential Skills5–10 years of experience in construction project management.3–5+ years in data center or mission-critical environments.Direct experience acting as an Owner’s Representative.Strong knowledge of MEP systems and critical infrastructure.Proficiency in project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Procore.Experience with data center management and construction.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Procore.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.Experience in commercial construction.Work EnvironmentThe role is based onsite and in the office in Hanover, MD, working out of the job site trailer as well as the office. The contract duration is 12 months with a possibility of conversion to a permanent position.
