Director of Operations - Heavy Civil Construction

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Director of Operations in the Milwaukee area to lead and oversee project management across a portfolio of heavy civil construction projects. This role is responsible for driving operational performance, supporting project teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of experience managing complex heavy civil projects and has a proven track record of leadership, strategic planning, and execution across multiple project teams.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide oversight and leadership to project managers and project teams across heavy civil construction projectsEstablish and enforce consistent project management standards, processes, and best practicesPartner with estimating, field operations, and executive leadership to support project planning and executionMonitor project performance, schedules, budgets, risk, and profitabilitySupport staffing, mentoring, and professional development of project management personnelEnsure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and contractual obligationsAssist with forecasting, workload planning, and operational strategyQualifications15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with significant project management leadership experienceStrong background managing projects involving earthwork, utilities, concrete, site development, or related civil scopesDemonstrated ability to lead multiple teams and projects simultaneouslyStrong financial, scheduling, and risk management skillsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferredWhy This RoleThis is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who wants to shape operations, influence project delivery, and mentor high-performing teams within a growing heavy civil organization.
