As part of CISA IT’s broader consolidation and modernization vision, this role contributes directly to the establishment of a centralized patching core team—a strategic initiative to standardize, streamline, and fortify patch management across multi‑cloud Linux environments. We are seeking a Senior Linux Automation Engineer with strong automation, DevOps, and cloud integration experience to help shape and execute this forward‑leaning effort. This position plays a key role in enhancing cybersecurity posture, improving operational efficiency, and driving consistent, proactive patching practices across DOMino CISA IT systems.Job ResponsibilitiesStandardize patch processes across CISA environmentsPrioritize critical updates aligned with CISA IT cybersecurity objectivesIntegrate automation and intelligent systems to reduce manual effortStrengthen collaboration between DOMino teams, government sponsors, and tenantsImprove transparency, metrics, and operational agilityleverage deep technical expertise to automate patch deployment and optimize system performancesupport multi‑cloud environments while contributing to the development of enterprise‑wide patching standards and best practicesEngineer and maintain Linux system architectures (primarily RHEL 8/9/10Perform OS security hardening, patching, and lifecycle maintenanceManage backup, recovery, and configuration documentation to ensure system integrityEngineer the design and implementation of standardized patching methodologies across AWS, AZURE, Google Cloud environmentsAutomate patch identification and deployment using tools such as Ansible and other IaC frameworksPrioritize and execute critical updates in alignment with CISA IT Patch Management GuidelinesAssist in baseline assessments to identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and automation opportunitiesParticipate in efforts to refine patching workflows, metrics, and operational processes.Integrate AWS, AZURE and Google native services to enhance performance, resilience, and scalability of patching and DevOps infrastructureEvaluate and implement AI capabilities to automate patch management processesContribute to enterprise cloud and DevOps standards, guidelines, and best practicesServe as a central conduit between DOMino teams, government sponsors, and tenants during patching cyclesEstablish and track metrics such as patch compliance, deployment timelines, and automation achievementsParticipate in weekly/bi‑weekly reviews to ensure alignment with evolving operational prioritiesSupport iterative improvements based on stakeholder feedback and operational data.Required SkillsMust be a US CitizenMust have an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearanceMust be able to obtain DHS Suitability6+ years of Linux systems engineering experience (RHEL 8/9/10 preferredStrong background in Linux Engineering and AutomationExperience with performance tuning and troubleshooting across compute, network, and storage layersHands‑on experience with Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, or similar configuration management tools.Desired SkillsExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible Automation PlatformExperience in development environmentsExperience with SELinux, multilevel security systems, or Cross Domain SolutionsAWS, AZURE, Google experience, including understanding of the Well‑Architected Framework; AWS, AZURE or Google Cloud certification preferredRequired EducationBachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field.
