Structural Engineer II

You’ll be part of a collaborative team working on cutting-edge post-tensioned concrete design for commercial, residential, and mixed-use buildings. Success in this role means delivering high-quality, constructible designs, solving engineering challenges proactively, and taking ownership of your portion of the project while working closely with teammates and clients.You’ll help KLINE continue to lead the industry in structural innovation, while enjoying growth opportunities in a supportive, entrepreneurial environment.The candidate will possess the following:BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with an emphasis on structural design3+ years of relevant structural engineering experience in building design preferredProficiency with structural design software; AutoCAD and Revit requiredKnowledge of post‑tensioned concrete design preferredApplies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with increasing independence, under the general supervision of a Project Manager or Senior EngineerDemonstrated knowledge of concrete, steel, and wood design, with the ability to apply applicable provisions of relevant design codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE, etc.)Methodical and organized approach to problem solving and completing project requirements, working independently or as part of a teamExercises sound engineering judgment and problem‑solving skills; appropriately seeks guidance when needed and proactively identifies potential issuesTakes ownership of assigned work and follows through to completion with limited oversightSelf‑motivated, driven, and interested in professional growth within a growing, entrepreneurial companyGeneral FunctionsActively participates in project meetings and contributes to resolving technical, coordination, or schedule concernsPerforms construction administration services including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits as neededDesigns new commercial, residential, and institutional buildings, including parking structuresPerforms condition assessments of existing structures and assists with the design of repair and strengthening solutionsConducts on‑site inspections and prepares technical memorandums summarizing observations and recommendationsTakes ownership of assigned portions of the structural scope and works reliably to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirementsCoordinates with project engineers, senior engineers, and project managers to support project deliveryPrepares clear, well‑organized technical calculations, engineering correspondence, and reportsMay assist in mentoring Engineer I staff or interns as appropriateQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, NDS, ACI as applicable).Strong knowledge with structural analysis and design software such as RISA 3D, ETABS, STAAD, RAM, Enercalc, or similar.Experience with AutoCAD and Revit in a building design environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.Interest in long-term growth within a fast-paced, collaborative, and values-driven firm.
