Vegetable Entomology Student Assistant
Position InformationClassification Title Student Assistant FLSA Non-Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 0.5 Minimum Qualifications Position SummaryThe vegetable entomology research laboratory conducts investigations into how pest insects affect vegetable productivity in Georgia and how to best control these pests. Current tasks include maintaining insect (e.g., whitefly and diamondback moth) colonies, collecting and processing samples and entering data. Specific tasks will include rapidly identifying and counting small insects under stereo microscope magnification, maintaining plant food for insect colonies, planting seeds/seedlings for colonies and/or research tests, scouting and other duties related to entomological field research.Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Physical DemandsStanding and using microscope for extended periods of time.
