Hematology/Oncology Physician

We are currently looking for a Hematology/Oncology Physician to join our practice in Salem, Oregon.
Position Overview
Hematology and Oncology inpatient consult service and outpatient clinic care
Within our hematology and oncology service line, we have an established team of 8 Partner Physicians, and 6 Associate Physicians
We enjoy strong relationships with Salem Hospital, Samaritan Health Services, Legacy Hospitals, Willamette Valley Hospital and other supporting community practices
Your care team is made up of our expert staff of APPs, RNs, MAs, and business office staff who handle prior authorizations, treatment infusions, procedures, and patient communication so that you can focus on your patients
Our associate physicians are eligible for partnership track after 2 years of service
Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to accurately assess patient needs and develop appropriate treatment plans
Participate as a key member of the patient-care team in implementing treatment plans and monitoring patient progress
Utilize and promote approved standards of care, procedures, methods, techniques, safety precautions, and study protocols
Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of standard operating procedures
Function collaboratively with the APP team
Order tests — including biopsy, blood, and imaging — to confirm a diagnosis
Provide patients with detailed information regarding cancer, their prognosis, and possible interventions or treatment options
Develop appropriate treatment plans, with measurable goals, that provide the highest level of care while conforming to patient preference
Maintain quality of life for patients by managing cancer-related pain and the symptoms and side effects of treatment
Reassess as disease treatment progresses, and pursue alternative therapies or palliative care when necessary
Participate in training sessions and correspondence for study protocols and clinical trials, and ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained
Daily schedule: Monday-Friday, 36 patient facing hours per week
Shared weeknight and weekend on call every 7th
No weekends or holidays, unless on call
Required Qualifications
Board Certified/Board Eligible MD with 2 -3 years’ experience. (Will consider exceptional candidates just out of fellowship)
Currently active full unrestricted Oregon Medical license or ability to obtain
Current DEA license or eligible to obtain
Strong technical/computer skills and EMR experience required.
Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
Team player with excellent communication skills
An empathetic, compassionate nature that allows you to sensitively guide people through their course of cancer care
Emotional resilience to cope with the demands of delivering difficult news

The Research department is critical to this mission because we are able to offer our patients access to novel therapies and opportunities that are unavailable outside of a clinical trial. We do this by initiating clinical trials which address the top 5 tumor sites, offering enrollment to eligible patients, and once enrolled, coordinating every aspect of the clinical trial. Our patients are closely monitored for any changes, while preventing and optimally managing any toxicities and facilitating ongoing trial participation.
