We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test.ScopeAs an Electrical Sustaining Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical liaison for resolving production issues affecting power supplies. You are responsible for identifying and implementing engineering solutions for existing designs in response to component obsolescence and evolving technical requirements. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure timely issue resolution while maintaining continuous product delivery to customers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but, are not limited to;Proposal/Quoting Activities:Provides support evaluating Bill of Materials for existing products. Sustaining/Production ActivitiesAnalyze legacy designs and provide hands on support of troubleshooting production hardwareAnalyze legacy designs to support root cause failures and corrective actions on Customer returned unitsAnalyze, update, and carry out activities associated with component Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) and obsolescenceWork with Test team to maintain and update automated test environmentUse of MRP and configuration management tools and updating product documentation to reflect design changesProviding electrical engineering support, particularly for component specs and selection, for power supply design in support of failure analysis and mitigating obsolescenceDevelopment Activities:Support testing and documentation of updated designsFinding replacements for obsolete electrical components and updating current designsEvaluate testing requirements for new designsProvide technical support to Test engineering on Testing requirements for new designsOther:Evaluate Part Change Notice’s from manufacturers, determine potential impact to design, and coordinate actions resulting from evaluationAbility to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required. Masters Degrees with emphasis in power electronics can substitute for years of experienceRequired:Extensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AccessAbility to troubleshoot electronics issues using scientific principlesPreferred:Solid experience with specifications for, or failure analysis of high-reliability and/or commercial Electrical/Electronic piece partsPower switching techniques, Control systems, Thermal analysis, Component modeling experience preferredExperience with electronics laboratory equipmentDemonstrated ability to resolve complex issuesPossess good oral and written communication skills; and be self-motivated in performance of duties with limited supervisionFamiliarity with tools used in managing obsolescence [i.e. Silicon Expert] to identify, forecast, and resolve obsolete component issuesExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment are requiredDesirable to have Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and manufacturing experiencePhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
