SummaryReports to the Saw Department Lead. Operates various saws to cut trim slab and raw material of different dimensions while performing the following duties. Responsibility for achievement of high quality, low cost, safety and on-time performance goals and development of advanced methods and techniques to increase productivity. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks as required by the company.Reads work order and receives instructions from supervisor for production instructions.Checks pre-operational inspection of equipment and blade.Checks depth of cut indicator, oil level, hydraulic unit and billet rack.Using forklift, loads and unloads product to be cut.Programs set up and operates saw to trim slab according to required dimensions and within tolerancesAligns slab and makes adjustments as needed throughout the cutRegulates speed of feed of product into the saw to ensure safe and efficient operationControls coolant system levelsPerforms inspections per traveler, blue print or template.Identifies cut product with heat number, shift and alloy content.Stores cut product according to instructions.Records each saw cut on the work order traveler.Weighs all remnant pieces that are cut off billet.Replaces bladePerforms other duties as assigned by ManagementSkills And AbilitiesAbility to read and comprehend simple instructionsAbility to complete simple production reportsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and fractionsAccurately measure using 1/8 and 1/16Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to operate a forkliftAptitude for learning programming controlsPHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing normal duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to read instruments, operate material handling equipment and identify colors.
