Senior Process Mechanical Design Engineer
Overview
In this role you will lead mechanical design and process integration for water and wastewater facilities within Arcadis’ California Water team. You’ll develop construction documents, basis of design, and equipment specifications, coordinating across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions. You’ll assess options, prepare cost estimates, and mentor junior engineers while supporting business development and proposals. The position focuses on vital water infrastructure and impactful, collaborative project delivery.

ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical design and process integration for water and wastewater facilitiesDevelop construction documents and detailed specifications for pumps, valves, gates and related systemsEstablish basis of design, perform calculations, and document recommendationsSize and select equipment, evaluate design options and prepare cost estimatesCoordinate with multiple engineering disciplines for integrated designsPrepare process flow narratives and conduct hydraulic analysesParticipate in project management activities including budget and schedule trackingSupport business development and contribute to proposalsMentor junior engineers and conduct quality control reviews
Key requirementsB.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)10 years of relevant process mechanical engineering experience in water and wastewater facilitiesLicensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in CaliforniaProficient in CAD and BIM, strong MS Office skillsStrong communication, multi-tasking, and team collaboration abilitiesExperience with design bid-build or alternative delivery projectsMechanical or Civil P.E. preferred for advanced roles15+ years of experience preferred (for some roles)interpersonal communicationstrong work ethicability to multi-task and prioritizeCAD and BIM proficiencyprocess mechanical engineering for water/wastewaterdesign of pumps, valves, gates and mechanical components
