Location: Hybrid - 4 days/week onsite Dearborn, MI Pay: $36.65 Duration: Long term contract (W2) Overview: We are seeking a Hybrid Powertrain OBD Subsystem Engineer to support the development of next-generation diagnostic software for hybrid propulsion systems. This role focuses on delivering, validating, and maintaining on-board diagnostics (OBD) to meet global regulatory requirements while supporting innovation in electrified powertrain technologies. Key Responsibilities:Develop and deliver OBD solutions for hybrid propulsion systems to meet global regulatory requirementsUse Simulink to develop signal processing algorithms for requirements analysis and validationSupport translation of prototype algorithms into production embedded softwarePerform and/or oversee HIL, SIL, dynamometer, and on-road testing for diagnostics validationCollect and analyze data to calibrate sensor performance and diagnostic monitoring systemsInvestigate and resolve OBD software and calibration issues with internal and external stakeholdersCollaborate cross-functionally on design, development, and validation of diagnostic softwareDevelop scripts (MATLAB, Python, or similar) to analyze system performance and support calibrationCreate calibration guides, regulatory documentation, and contribute to workshop manuals Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field2+ years of experience in automotive product development (hybrid/propulsion diagnostics preferred)Experience reviewing/analyzing C/C++, MATLAB, or Simulink (no hands-on coding required)Experience with data acquisition and analysisStrong understanding of hybrid propulsion systems and engine diagnosticsExperience with software testing and calibration processesFamiliarity with Jira or similar toolsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in a related fieldExperience with ATI Vision or similar data acquisition toolsKnowledge of OBD standards and global diagnostic regulationsExperience with HIL/SIL testing methodologiesExposure to diagnostic algorithm development and fault detectionExperience with data visualization or analysis toolsBasic Python experience Key Skills:Data analysis and metrics interpretationCalibration and diagnostic validationCross-functional collaborationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and documentation Additional Details:Hybrid work schedule (4 days onsite)Focus on advanced hybrid powertrain technologies and diagnosticsOpportunity to contribute to next-generation mobility solutions Benefits As a Hybrid Powertrain OBD Subsystem Engineer with Bartech Staffing, you will be working through an established and respected staffing organization with over 40 years of serving as a trusted partner to our client companies.
