Overview
As a Staff Avionics Hardware Engineer in the Interplanetary Sciences Program, you own the design, development, and delivery of spacecraft avionics from concept to flight. You will work with propulsion, guidance, thermal, and software teams to ensure reliable, high-performance systems for deep-space missions. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and help set the architecture and standards for future avionics. ResponsibilitiesDevelop complete avionics systems from concept through flight-qualified hardwareCollaborate with propulsion, guidance and control, thermal, and software teams for integrated performanceImplement robust design and test processes ensuring reliability and safety for deep-space missionsLead technical execution of avionics hardware builds including PCB design, harnessing, embedded systems, and environmental qualificationCoordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders on component selection, testing, and delivery schedulesMaintain design documentation, test plans, and reports with strong communication and organization
Key requirements7+ years designing, developing, and delivering avionics or electronics for aerospace or similarly complex environmentsBachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldProven ability to take a design from concept through production with minimal supervisionHands-on experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, embedded software interfaces, and system-level testingProven ability to work cross-functionally and communicate technical information to diverse audiencesAbility to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment with adaptability and problem-solving skillscross-functional collaborationclear technical communicationadaptabilityschematic capturePCB layoutembedded software interfaces
