Job Description Hospital Medicine Physician for Gut Failure ProgramOur organization is seeking a full-time Hospitalist to become part of the newly established Gut Failure Program at our leading hospital.This exceptional role is situated at our flagship facility, where we are working to enhance and standardize the care team responsible for managing patients with complex gut failure, in collaboration with the Surgery Department and the Gastroenterology Division.About the Gut Failure ProgramOur hospital is a 750+ bed quaternary care center, exclusively staffed by faculty physicians across more than 70 subspecialties.Recognized as the top hospital in Georgia, we also rank nationally in various specialties, including cardiology, transplant, oncology, and neurosciences, and have received Magnet designation three times.The Gut Failure Program focuses on treating patients with conditions such as fistulas, short bowel syndrome, peritoneal abscesses, complicated intestinal adhesions and obstructions, hernias requiring complex abdominal wall reconstruction, complicated pancreatitis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and other digestive tract issues leading to intestinal resections and short gut syndrome.Position HighlightsCommit at least 50% of clinical responsibilities to the Gut Failure Team to deepen expertise in managing gut failure patients, while the remaining time will involve rotations on other hospitalist services to broaden experience.Co-manage the medical care of gut failure patients by creating a comprehensive service aimed at optimizing care delivery for those with complex pathophysiology, collaborating with General Surgery, Gastroenterology, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, dietary and psychology teams, and social work.Lead initiatives focused on quality and patient safety to improve patient outcomes and care management.Engage in academic responsibilities, promoting service excellence through education and mentorship of trainees and other team members.Compensation and BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary with performance-based incentives, support for continuing medical education (CME), and a comprehensive benefits package that includes retirement plans and wellness programs.QualificationsBoard Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) with an active Georgia medical license or the ability to obtain one.Demonstrated history of effective teaching and successful mentoring in inpatient settings across various professions.Preferred: Experience in providing hospital medicine care in a high-acuity academic medical center.Community Highlights - Living in Metro AtlantaRanked consistently among the best places to live in Georgia, it is recognized as a top city for young professionals and one of the healthiest cities in the U.S.Offers a unique combination of vibrant urban life and tranquil suburban areas, with a lower cost of living compared to many U.S. cities, along with innovative solutions like micro-home communities and urban farms.Culturally diverse and rich, featuring historic sites such as Centennial Olympic Park and a dynamic entertainment industry that has earned Atlanta the title 'Hollywood of the South.'Provides easy access to world-class amenities, including the busiest international airport, a flourishing arts and music scene, professional sports teams, and award-winning dining and shopping options.Known as 'The City in a Forest,' with nearly 50% tree canopy coverage and numerous outdoor activities, including the Atlanta Belt Line, hiking, biking trails, kayaking, and nature parks.Our organization is an equal opportunity employer.
