Senior Estimator – DOT Bridges or Heavy Highway – based in Boston, NYC, New Haven or CliftonSalary: Up to $200,000 plus 20% bonus, full medical, 401k, ESOP (employee owned) and great staff retentionJob Summary:We are looking for a collaborative and detail-driven Senior Estimator with experience in bridge construction and transportation infrastructure to join our growing preconstruction team. The ideal candidate brings strong DOT project estimating experience—especially on bridge or heavy highway work valued between $10M and $30M+—and thrives in a team-oriented environment. B2W estimating software experience is preferred, but we are happy to train the right candidate with strong skills in HCSS or similar platforms.Key Responsibilities:Lead and support the preparation of detailed cost estimates for bridge and transportation infrastructure projects, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and fellow estimators to align estimates with construction methods, scope, and logistics.Review plans, specs, and addenda to ensure accurate and competitive bids in accordance with DOT and public agency standards.Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and apply sound pricing strategies based on current market conditions, labor rates, and material costs.Participate in internal estimating reviews, risk analysis discussions, and value engineering sessions.Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and agency representatives to gather competitive pricing and project insights.Support the mentoring of junior estimators and contribute to the continued development of a high-performing estimating team.Leverage estimating software (preferably B2W Estimate) to streamline workflows, generate accurate proposals, and maintain historical cost data. Training available for candidates experienced with HCSS HeavyBid.Stay informed on DOT specifications, public sector bidding practices, and changes in industry cost trends.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).7+ years of experience in civil construction estimating, with a strong focus on bridge structures, transportation, or heavy highway projects.Demonstrated success estimating DOT projects between $10M–$30M+.Experience with B2W Estimate preferred. Will train qualified candidates with HCSS HeavyBid experience.Solid knowledge of construction means and methods, especially in bridge and structural work (concrete, steel, foundations, falsework, traffic control).Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a team-first mindset and the ability to collaborate across departments.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) a plus.Primarily office-based with flexibility to attend job walks, pre-bid meetings, or site investigations as needed.Fast-paced, team-driven setting that values collaboration, accuracy, and initiative.Seniority level: SeniorEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: ConstructionIndustries: ConstructionJ-18808-Ljbffr
