Job DescriptionAbbVie US Market Access is responsible for securing and enabling patient access to our portfolio of products across all payer and distribution channels including commercial health plans, PBMs, Medicare, Medicaid, VA/DoD, Employer, Health System, Pharmacy, wholesalers and oncology GPOs. The USMA Strategy Group is a sub-function within USMA that is responsible for comprehending the current and future state of the US Market Access environment through mastery of the evolving US healthcare landscape and the Market Access Channels. The group collaborates with the payer strategy teams, incorporates the environment and channel considerations into brand strategies, provides strategic guidance, and supports the payer strategy brands leads and other members of USMAx to pull through strategic recommendations.This includes analyzing market trends and government regulations, identifying payer channel impact and insights, and contributing recommendations for future strategies that yield profitable, broad market access across AbbVie's portfolio of pharmaceuticals including both in-line promoted products and assets under pipeline development. In addition, the group has responsibility for effectively transferring best-in-class knowledge to stakeholders both within and outside of AbbVie with the goal of distinguishing AbbVie among healthcare organizations in its development of innovative brand access solutions.Purpose of Role and ResponsibilitiesGenerate insights and effectively transfer knowledge related to environmental trends, policy, and channel dynamics.Lead and influence across the enterprise to ensure insights are built into company and brand strategies.Catalyze innovative access solutions across the AbbVie organization, including contribution to in-line and pipeline assets access strategies.Effectively influence and align across multiple teams and levels of the organization including executive leadership, USMAx leadership, payer strategy, pipeline strategy, brand teams, and external affairs to ensure AbbVie's portfolio is positioned for optimal success across payer channels.Collaborate with payer strategy, pipeline, trade, and account teams to ensure that channel insights and deliverables are fit-for-purpose and actionable.Share accountability with cross-functional partners to pull through strategic recommendations.Partner with payer strategy teams on prioritized strategic projects of critical importance to the brand.Consult with pipeline team and business development to inform licensing and acquisition work in light of channel dynamics and potential opportunity.Collaborate closely with USMAx leadership, government affairs, public affairs, the business evolution and strategy development organization, the IRA Center of Excellence, and other partners to ensure USMAx perspective is incorporated into corporate strategies and to inform/influence policy externally.Effectively orchestrate project work across internal teams and external partners including agencies, consultants, customers, and market access insights.Create customer connections in collaboration with account management teams to influence customer points of view and create synergy with AbbVie's position on future market approaches.SkillsVision and Strategy: Leverage breadth of market access experience and strategic thinking to provide overarching leadership and direction for payer channel vision, strategies, plans and resource investment for AbbVie stakeholders. Own responsibility for channel and cross-portfolio strategy to set tone and priorities for scale and scope of accountability.Learning agility: Knowledge and experience across multiple therapeutic areas and access environments; ability to learn a new therapeutic area or synthesize an emerging topic or trend quickly to provide strategic insights and recommendations.Collaboration and Teamwork: Work effectively with internal stakeholders, external market experts and support partners to assimilate leading insights to ensure in-line brands and pipeline assets incorporate USMA channel planning into strategy.Action and Accountability: In collaboration with cross-functional partners, determine appropriate recommendations for action, execution, performance metrics, and monitoring, and share accountability with payer strategy, account, trade and other USMAx teams for pull-through of strategic recommendations.Analytical Approach for Impact: Ability to operate in ambiguity; leverage inductive and deductive reasoning to make decisions and recommendations with less than perfect information. Strong analytical skills and ability to utilize structured frameworks and evidence to problem-solve and make decisions.QualificationsBachelor's degree in science or business; advanced degree with healthcare/pharmacy focus preferred (MBA, MS, PharmD, PhD).Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical market access, healthcare or policy experience.Knowledge expertise in US access, reimbursement, and pricing landscape for pharmaceutical products (both pharmacy and medical reimbursement). Strong understanding of government and commercial payer dynamics including pricing, contracting, policies, and business practices (PBM, Medicare, Medicaid, other channels).Cross-functional experience in marketing, customer engagement and negotiation, finance, regulatory, research & development, medical, and/or HEOR.Strong communication skills, storytelling, and executive presence.Ability to navigate the organization and build strong stakeholder relationships across company functions to drive results.BenefitsComprehensive package including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.Eligibility to participate in long-term incentive programs.CompensationThe compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
