Project Manager II - School

Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the director or designee, the Project Manager II leads medium projects or subcomponents of larger, more complex projects. The Project Manager II is responsible for independent action on multiple projects. Tasks vary according to the priorities of the department.Essential FunctionsLead project teams, develop new project plans, schedules and budgets for approvalExecute project requirements and ensure that project execution meets expectationsPerform research and data analysis in support of the initial feasibility and formalization of a project and presents findings to senior leadershipDevelop and present final project reports, findings and deliverablesAssess and evaluate project risks, mitigate and implement strategies to alleviate themSchedule and coordinate team meetings. Participate in team recruitment and work allocationPrepare project statements in collaboration with project team members on data collection, project work plans, meetings, decisions, work change orders, project deliverables, progress reports, schedules, cost tracking reports, and other pertinent reportsFacilitate communication of the projects status, budget, costs, issues, and related information to the projects team leaders, project sponsor, steering committee, affected business unit(s), and team members as appropriateCoordinate with the projects sponsor in refining the project scope and objectives, including any constraintsProvide direction, support and daily supervision to project support staffDraft and Develop contracts related to the project successAdhere to University, State and funding agency policies and proceduresPerforms other duties as required.Required QualificationsBachelors Degree or equivalent experience3-5 years of demonstrated experience in project managementStrong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with staff, clients, and vendor staffAbility to lead and direct a matrix project team, as well as the ability to lead and direct effective meetings and work sessionsStrong Microsoft Office skillsAbility to travel to off-site locationsThe University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School welcomes all qualified applicants and complies with all state and federal anti-discrimination laws.
