Network Engineer

Department: Systems Engineering & AdministrationReports To: Director of Branch Services (Charles Buckhouse)Employment Type: Full-TimeFLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)Position SummaryThe Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting network infrastructure for client and internal environments. This role focuses on network reliability, performance, and security while providing advanced troubleshooting and escalation support. The Network Engineer works closely with systems administrators, systems engineers, and field teams to deliver stable and scalable network solutions.Primary FocusNetwork infrastructure maintenance and optimizationAdvanced network troubleshooting and escalation supportNetwork-related project implementationSecurity, availability, and performance of network services80% Project based work, 20% escalated support workUp to 20% travel as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Engineering & OperationsInstall, configure, and maintain network switches, firewalls, wireless systems, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and WAN connectivityEnsure high availability, performance, and security of network environmentsUpgrade network hardware and configurations as requiredTroubleshooting & EscalationDiagnose and resolve complex network connectivity and performance issuesServe as an escalation point for network-related incidentsEngage vendors and manufacturer support as neededProject ImplementationParticipate in/or lead network refreshes, redesigns, and new site deploymentsSupport infrastructure upgrades and migrations from a networking perspectiveCollaborate with systems engineers on cross-domain initiativesSecurity & Best PracticesImplement and maintain firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and segmentationSupport secure remote access and disaster recovery networking requirementsDocumentation & CollaborationDocument network configurations, diagrams, and proceduresCommunicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholdersProvide remote and onsite support as requiredRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switchingExperience with enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Unifi, WatchGuard, SonicWall or equivalentKnowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and network security best practicesStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skillsExperience & QualificationsTypically 3–7+ years of experience in network engineering or administration rolesMSP or multi-client environment experience preferredRelevant certifications (Cisco, Fortinet, or equivalent) are a plus
