Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide exceptional care to help patients gain oral-motor control and cognition in order to perform oral and communicative functions, such as sound production, vocalizing, chewing, swallowing, etc., effectively. Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) tasks will include, but are not limited to: Review authorized orders for therapy services, and perform and document initial evaluation to determine patients’ oral-motor deficits, and identify the therapeutic needs and goals specific to the patients to maintain, develop, and/or restore oral-motor function in applicable setting. Perform clinical assessments to define functional and communicative impairment and developmental and/or restorative potential. Confer with patient, family, medical treatment team to determine maintenance, developmental, and restorative therapeutic goals. Track and document treatments, responses, and progress. Reevaluate, redefine therapeutic goals, and develop new treatment plans as necessary. Recommend Augmentative Communication Devices for non-verbal patients if necessary.
