We are seeking an experienced hospice nursing leader to serve as Clinical Director - the senior clinical authority overseeing hospice operations. This is primarily an office-based leadership role focused on compliance, audits, staff supervision, and clinical oversight, with occasional field involvement for admissions or complex case review.Position SummaryThe Clinical Director provides executive oversight of hospice clinical services and ensures compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and state regulations. This role protects documentation integrity, eligibility standards, interdisciplinary coordination, and overall quality assurance across the program.The ideal candidate is structured, decisive, and confident in holding teams accountable while building a strong, professional nursing culture.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Regulatory Oversight• Conduct routine and targeted chart audits• Ensure Plan of Care accuracy and timeliness• Maintain continuous survey readiness• Monitor eligibility documentation and recertifications• Lead corrective action and performance improvement initiativesStaff Supervision & Development• Direct supervision of RN Case Managers and Clinical Supervisors• Performance evaluations and competency validation• Oversight of clinical orientation and ongoing training• Real-time coaching on documentation and regulatory standards• Strengthen accountability and workflow consistencyIDG & Interdisciplinary Leadership• Lead structured IDG meetings• Ensure collaboration across nursing, social work, chaplain, and aide services• Review complex cases and guide care planning• Promote communication standards across disciplinesSystems & Documentation Management• Ensure EMR documentation compliance• Monitor productivity and documentation timelines• Support efficient use of hospice software systems• Partner with administration on operational improvementRequired Qualifications• Active, unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required• Minimum four (4) years hospice experience required• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred• Strong knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations• Experience conducting documentation audits• EMR proficiency and Microsoft Office skills• Strong organizational and decision-making abilitiesWork Environment• Primarily office-based leadership role• Occasional patient visits for admissions or oversight• Participation in on-call leadership rotation as needed• Ability to assist with patient care when requiredCompensation & Benefits• Competitive salary: $125,000 - $150,000 annually• Health, dental, and vision benefits• Paid time off• 401(k) options• Mileage reimbursement per policy• Executive-level leadership influenceWhy This Role MattersStrong clinical leadership ensures:• Compliant documentation• Confident survey outcomes• Supported nursing teams• Protected patient eligibility• Sustainable program growth
