The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is hiring an Appraiser for the Board of Assessors. The purpose of this position is to appraise real and/or personal property to determine a fair and equitable value for tax purposes.
Responsibilities Inspect properties, research comparable sales and other data to establish current market value.
Adjust property values upward to reflect improvements and downward to reflect deterioration and enter findings into the CAMA appraisal system.
Respond to questions from property owners and the general public concerning valuations and the appraisal process.
Present information and recommendations concerning property values to the Board of Assessors.
Enter data for tax appeals, property ownership information, update parcels, maps, and deed reference sheets as required for new deeds and plats.
Perform related work as assigned.
May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the business needs of the County.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Two years of experience in appraising or evaluating real estate or closely related work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must obtain Georgia DOR Appraiser I certification within twelve months.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Physical Demands Perform sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis or sustained keyboard operations. Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
