Essential Job Duties:Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price listContact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materialsConfer or correspond with supplier representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specificationsMaintain and develop positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel involved in, or directly relevant to, a logistics activityExplain proposed solutions to customers, management, or other interested parties through written proposals and oral presentationsReport project plans, progress, and resultsParticipate in the assessment and review of design alternatives and design change proposal impactsPrepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requestsCompare suppliers' bills with bids and purchase orders to verify accuracyPrepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price listsCheck shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specificationsDetermine if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessaryConfer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changesContact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problemsTrack the status of requisitions, contracts, and ordersRespond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellationsImplement new or improved supply chain processes to improve efficiency or performanceQualifications:Prior experience in purchasing or supply chain management in manufacturing or food related industry is requiredHigh level of listening, comprehension, and communication skill, both written and verbal; ability to represent the company well to external business partners/vendorsRelationship management skills, including a personality and disposition to work well with others (both internal coworkers and external vendors) in potentially high-stress or high-pressure situationsProven attention to detail and accuracy; superior organization skillsAbility to troubleshoot and solve problems through deductive reasoningSuperior time management skills with minimal supervision; self-motivation and initiative; ability to prioritize, plan, and execute to complete projects and tasksAccuracy with basic algebra, arithmetic, and percentagesProficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft ExcelAbility to become proficient in use of Microsoft products within probationary periodBasic understanding of materials traceability and lot numbersPhysical DemandsAbility to hear and speak on telephoneNear vision and ability to view computer screen for extended periodsFull manual dexterity in hands and wrists; typing and mouse work for extended periodsPay range and compensation packageWe offer competitive pay and a strong benefits package designed to support our employees and their families.
