To learn more, visit vestwell.comWho Are We Looking For?The Engineering team is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer, with experience in Product feature development and Architecture who can be effective on all levels of our Engineering stack, and is willing to play all necessary roles such as architect, tech lead, code reviewer, Agile coach, and mentor.In short, we want to bring experienced Engineers in to make key decisions regarding technology, architecture, and software.You’re a great fit for our team if you can balance detail-oriented tasks with long term strategy and scale initiatives. That matters to us, a lot.ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain optimal software supporting Product initiatives and features using TypescriptEstablish and enforce best practices in code to build sophisticated software that adheres to common programming principlesWork with stakeholders including the Executive, Product and Operations teams to support their Product development needsReview requirements and translate into an executable development plan, breaking down projects to enable iterative and agile implementationProvide production support and train junior engineersProactively drive the vision for architecture and design across multiple product verticalsManage the delivery of high impact development solutionsRequirementsThe Necessities5+ years of experience as a Software EngineerExperience with Typescript and Node.jsExperience with PythonProficiency with AI tools such as Claude and CursorExperience scaling and managing 3+ person teamsAdvanced knowledge Agile practicesExtensive development experienceExperience mentoring more junior engineersExperience with relational databasesData Architecture experienceExperience with AWS cloud services Ability to triage and assign workHas experience working with and leading remote contractorsDemonstrated experience with Software Architecture and DesignExperience working with and supporting cross functional teamsExtensive use of Git, preferably GithubThe ExtrasFintech experienceStartup experienceBuilding pipelines in JenkinsThis role will be based in either the New York City or Austin office, and will be part of Vestwell's hybrid in-office operation.The expected base salary range for this position is $185K - $200K base. This position is eligible to participate in the Company Bonus Pool and is eligible to receive new hire equity in the Company.
