As an Inspector, you'll be responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows with minimal supervision. Essential Job Duties: Conduct inspections, tests, and maintenance of fire protection systems according to NFPA codes, including sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices, and critical components. Document and report deficiencies in fire protection systems to SFS and customers. Communicate professionally with internal and external customers and offsite monitoring companies. Use and operate inspection tools properly, such as heat and smoke detector kits, backflow kits, and pump equipment. Plan, coordinate, and complete inspections as scheduled, ensuring timely execution. Be available for on-call status to handle emergency service and inspection requests as needed. Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of the company-provided vehicle. Safeguard and maintain all assigned tools. Adhere to SFS’s safety programs, including the SDS book and Hazardous Communication Program. Participate in weekly Toolbox Talks and ensure safety documentation is always accessible on projects. Attend seminars to stay current with technology, installation, and testing methods. Train inspector trainees in all relevant fire protection aspects. Qualifications: Education & Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required. NICET and/or state-required certification based on location needed. Experience & Skills: 3-5 years of experience in inspecting fire protection systems required; 5+ years preferred. Must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, customer service skills, multitasking, project scheduling, planning, and organizing skills. Experience training others is a plus. Licenses: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required. Utah Department of Insurance License and either Utah Fire Alarm or Fire Sprinkler License necessary. Knowledge of NFPA, building, and fire codes required. Communication Skills: Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English with employees and customers. Systems & Software Skills: Ability to operate computers, tablets, and read electronic blueprints required. Experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Office preferred. Preferred: NICET II or III certification.
