Assistant Buyer / Procurement Specialist

Duties
Assist in the procurement process by sourcing suppliers, negotiating prices, and evaluating bids to secure the best terms for materials and services
Support purchase order creation and tracking within ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or similar platforms
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods, monitor order status, and resolve any supply issues promptly
Maintain accurate inventory records and control stock levels through effective inventory management practices
Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and stay informed about industry trends in supply chain management
Assist in contract management by reviewing agreements, ensuring compliance, and supporting renewal negotiations
Coordinate logistics activities related to inbound shipments, transportation scheduling, and warehouse operations
Skills
Proficiency with ERP systems including SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 for procurement and materials management
Strong understanding of supply chain processes such as MRP (Material Requirements Planning), inventory control, and logistics
Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing and contractual terms with suppliers
Knowledge of procurement best practices including sourcing strategies, vendor evaluation, and contract management
Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and online sourcing tools for supplier engagement
Ability to analyze pricing trends and develop cost-saving initiatives within the supply chain
Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments including production planning, merchandising, and logistics
