If so, then we want to talk to you!The Cedarville University School of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The Mechanical Engineering Program comprises nine full-time faculty, over three-hundred undergraduate students, and dedicated facilities in areas of manufacturing, rapid prototyping, automotive, and aerospace engineering. Our rigorous program offers rich learning opportunities and cultivates technical professionals who are committed to excellence in character, conduct, and skill. Cedarville University presents a unique faculty opportunity to invest in the lives of students both inside and outside of the classroom, focusing on the development of the whole person in addition to technical training.Faculty candidates are currently sought with expertise in thermal and fluid sciences, aerospace design, experimental methods, or materials engineering. Highly qualified candidates whose expertise lies in other associated areas of mechanical engineering may also be considered. Industry experience in one or more of these areas is considered highly desirable. Given our program's emphasis on developing applied skills through lab-based and project-based learning, demonstrated experience in practical application and design implementation is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in educational, mentorship, and training contexts will also be highly regarded.Strong candidates may be considered for appointment at the Professor level. Rank and compensation are commensurate with experience and credentials.The School of Engineering and Computer Science is housed in a modern facility with extensive state-of-the-art laboratories. We offer ABET-accredited programs in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science (CS), as well as a program in Cyber Operations.Position ResponsibilitiesTeach 24 workload hours (or the equivalent) of undergraduate courses and laboratories per academic year in mechanical engineering. The successful candidate may also be required to teach in other mechanical and general engineering areas as needed for the BSME curriculum and other programs in the school.Demonstrate biblical integration in teaching and mentorship.Guide and mentor senior capstone design projects.Plan and execute laboratory activities, ensuring safe and effective operation of equipment.Support student learning through mentorship, advising, and professional guidance.Advise students in academic, professional, and spiritual development.Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation processes (including ABET).Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committees and outreach initiatives.Maintain professional engagement with the engineering community and foster industry relationshipsPosition RequirementsPh.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; ORM.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) plus licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE); ORM.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) plus at least 6 years of professional engineering experience in a relevant area of mechanical engineering.Candidates without a terminal degree but with significant industry experience will be considered. However, they may be required to enroll in further graduate-level studies as a condition of employment.Proven ability to effectively communicate engineering and professional subject matter to students.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students.Demonstrated ability to effectively engage in Christian mentorship and discipleship in both one-on-one and larger group contexts.Ability to provide professional mentorship and career guidance.Articulated commitment to and understanding of biblical integration in and out of the classroom.Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.Qualified applicant must agree with and be willing to abide by Cedarville University's Doctrinal Statement, Community Covenant, and General Workplace Standards.This position is subject to the University's verification of credentials and other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including successful completion of a criminal history investigation.
