Systems Engineer - Microsoft Exchange

DescriptionM2 Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server and Windows infrastructure to support enterprise messaging environments. This role will focus on designing, maintaining, and modernizing Exchange environments, including hybrid deployments with Microsoft 365.The ideal candidate is a senior engineer who can operate independently, troubleshoot complex performance issues, and guide customers through migrations, architecture decisions, and operational best practices.ResponsibilitiesEngineer, administer, and maintain enterprise Microsoft Exchange Server environments in both on-premises and hybrid configurationsDesign and support hybrid messaging architectures integrating Microsoft 365 with legacy on-premises systemsArchitect, implement, and troubleshoot Database Availability Groups (DAGs) to ensure high availability and disaster recoveryManage and support Active Directory infrastructure, including forest/domain design, replication, and recovery strategiesDiagnose and resolve complex performance, connectivity, and mail flow issues across Windows and Exchange environmentsDevelop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell to streamline operations and reduce manual effortProvide Tier 3/4 escalation support and communicate technical issues, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly to stakeholdersCollaborate with cybersecurity, networking, and operations teams to ensure secure and compliant messaging systemsRequired QualificationsTop Secret SCI (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraphBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field Minimum 11 years of hands-on experience engineering and administering Microsoft Exchange environmentsDeep expertise in:Exchange on-premises to cloud migrationsHybrid Exchange deployments with Microsoft 365Active Directory architecture, troubleshooting, and disaster recoveryDesigning and supporting Exchange Database Availability GroupsProven ability to troubleshoot Windows Server and Exchange performance issues in enterprise environmentsStrong problem-solving and customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to:Set expectations with stakeholdersDevelop and execute remediation plansProvide clear, professional technical updatesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple prioritiesPreferred QualificationsExperience working in environments following Security Development Operations (SecDevOps) principlesFamiliarity with enterprise communication architectures and related technologies (e.g., unified communications and secure messaging solutions)Experience using ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem managementExperience supporting Authentication & Authorization (A&A) and System Security Plan (SSP) documentation and processesPrior experience providing Tier 3 or Tier 4 operational support in a mission-critical environmentExperience working in Agile or iterative delivery environmentsFamiliarity with modern programming or scripting languages such as Python, C#, Java, or PerlMicrosoft certifications such as:Exchange Server certificationsMicrosoft Azure administration or engineering certificationsWhy M2 SolutionsAt M2 Solutions, engineers work on the full scope of complex, mission-critical systems that directly support national security and enterprise modernization initiatives.
