About Us:
Established in 1963, and situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains on 180 acres of old-growth redwood forest, Roaring Camp Inc. is a heritage tourist railroad that offers two unique journeys. The Bear Mountain excursion offers year around steam train excursions through the old growth redwood forest, while the Santa Cruz Beach Train offers seasonal excursions through the Redwood Forests to the sandy beaches of Santa Cruz.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for skilled maintenance and repair of diesel and heavy equipment, medium and light weight equipment
Possess at least 4 years of education or work experience as a mechanic repairing trucks, farm equipment, locomotives, automobiles, or diesels; alternatively, hold a current journeyman's mechanical card
Valid certification and/or license as a diesel mechanic from ASE
Performs equipment troubleshooting to test operational efficiency and determine cause of malfunction
Prescribes and performs repairs to equipment
May provide lead work direction to semiskilled or unskilled workers
Performs related work as required
Heavy equipment maintenance and repair techniques sufficient to perform installation, repair, and maintenance on heavy, medium, and light equipment
Heavy equipment repair tools and rebuilding equipment sufficient to make correct and safe use of these in the repair and maintenance of equipment
Metal forging, forming and tempering sufficient to repair equipment to working order
Arc and acetylene welding sufficient to repair damaged equipment and to modify existing equipment per required specifications
Detect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects sufficient to perform preventive maintenance on equipment
Use electronic, computerized, and/or precision measuring instruments sufficient to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment
Understand and follow oral and written instructions sufficient to carry out repair orders and understand maintenance records and equipment specifications
Keep repair records sufficient to log, track, and retrieve repair and maintenance histories on equipment
Must be 18 years of age or older
Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions
Prior experience using personal protective equipment
Familiar with working around moving heavy equipment
Willingness to work in confined spaces
Must be 18 years of age or older
Availability to work different shifts, including overtime, holidays, and weekends
Possess a valid driver's license
Must be able to frequently:
Lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs
Stoop and squat
Twist and bend neck forward and backward
Work in standing position for long periods
Bend waist while standing
Bonus Points:
Experience with locomotive repair
Knowledge of FRA regulations pertaining to locomotive maintenance and inspection
Perks:
Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
